Dec. 13, 2008 – Senior Georgia Mueller posted a team-high 16 points, but the Bulldog women’s basketball team committed 26 turnovers and gave up 18 offensive rebounds in a 58-39 loss to No. 2 Washburn on Saturday night in Pershing Arena.

 

Truman (2-6, 0-3 MIAA) was held to its lowest offensive output since a 36-point effort in an MIAA contest at Missouri Southern on Dec. 9, 2006. The second-ranked Lady Blues (8-0, 3-0 MIAA) struggled from the floor – shooting just 32% - but turned its extra opportunities into 22 more field goal attempts and ten more trips to the foul line to pick up the win.

 

Junior Laura Joya and sophomore Malorie Kiecker each tacked on six points apiece for Truman, while freshman Breanna Daniels added five points and six rebounds. Janice Bright had a game-high 20 points for Washburn, and Dayna Rodriguez added 11 points and five rebounds.

 

The Bulldogs will now have a pair of non-conference games before stepping back into MIAA play for the rest of the season, starting Wednesday night at Lincoln (Mo.) in Jefferson City. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m.
