HAYS, Kan. – The Fort Hays State Tigers jumped out to an 18-7 lead and hit 12 three-pointers for the afternoon to extend the Bulldog women’s basketball losing streak to four in a 71-46 decision Saturday. The Bulldogs shot just 29% from the field.
Truman (3-10, 0-6 MIAA) took an early 2-0 lead but saw three Tigers finish the first half in double-figures, as the Bulldogs headed to the intermission down 41-22. Naomi Bancroft led all scorers on the afternoon with 24 points – including seven threes – and Erica Biel added 17 points and 13 rebounds for FHSU (7-5, 3-2 MIAA).
Sophomore Malorie Kiecker came off the bench for the first time this season to lead the Bulldogs with 12 points, and junior Laura Joya finished with eight points, five rebounds and four assists. Truman shot 17-of-59 from the field and hit just four-of-14 three-pointers.
The Bulldogs wrap up its current three-game road trip with a showdown against Nebraska-Omaha on Wednesday (Jan. 7) in Omaha at 5:30 p.m.
