Jan. 18, 2009 – Katrina Biermann won multiple events for the Bulldog Indoor Track & Field teams at the University of Iowa Open on Saturday.Biermann won both the pole vault and triple jump.
In all, the Truman women took home top honors in five events during the first meet of the spring semester.Tessa Letuli edged out fellow Bulldog Ashley Bernard in the weight throw, while Bernard picked up a win in the shot put.
Shaina Dochterman won the only running event for the Bulldogs with a victory in the 60 meter hurdles, crossing the line in 9.51.
Jennifer Zweifel (Triple Jump), Amber Clayton (200 Meter) and Danna Kelly (3000 Meter) all picked up second place finishes during the meet.
On the men’s side, Joey Walls was the highest place finisher with a second in the 3000 meter run.Walls finished the race in 8:55.37.
Other top performances on the men’s team were Josh Mantooth (5th- Mile Run), Derek Atwood (5th- Shot Put) and Eric Ruzicka (6th – Weight Throw).
The Bulldogs will return to the state of Iowa next weekend to compete at the Iowa State Open in Ames.
