Oct. 16, 2009 – The Truman volleyball squad is ranked sixth in the first official South Central regional ranking of the season, released late Thursday by the NCAA. The Bulldogs are one of six MIAA teams ranked in the top-eight.

Truman (16-8, 4-4 MIAA) is joined by Central Missouri (No. 1), Emporia State (No. 3), Washburn (No. 4), Nebraska-Omaha (No. 5) and Missouri Southern (No. 8) as MIAA representatives in the first ranking of the season, with Lone Star conference foes West Texas A&M (No. 2) and Abilene Christian (No. 7) holding the other two spots in the top-eight. Heartland conference leader Incarnate Word and another Lone Star conference squad, Southeastern Oklahoma State, round out the top-10.

The Bulldogs have made the postseason each of the past nine seasons and have reached the tournament’s final weekend five times in that stretch. The next official ranking will be released on Thursday, Oct. 29.

Truman has two home matches this weekend, starting tonight (Friday) with a 7pm first-serve against Northwest Missouri State before continuing tomorrow evening at 7 pm against Missouri Western.
