NCAA Regional Rankings: Men | Women

Oct. 28, 2009 – Both Truman soccer teams held the No. 3 spot in their respective NCAA South Central regional polls this week, as the women jumped from 5th to 3rd after a pair of wins while the men stayed put following one win last week.

The Bulldog women (12-2-2 overall) climbed to third following shutout wins against Northwest Missouri and Missouri Southern last week. Truman moved past Incarnate Word (who fell from second to fourth) and Abilene Christian (who fell from third to sixth) to fall in behind region-leader St. Edward’s and West Texas A&M.

Another MIAA member, Nebraska-Omaha moved from seventh to fifth to round out the current top-six that would qualify for the NCAA postseason at this point. Central Missouri (No. 9) and Northwest Missouri (No. 10) round out the top-10 to help give the MIAA the most representation of any of the three South Central region conferences.

Meanwhile, the top-four teams on the men’s side stayed exactly the same as West Texas A&M and Midwestern State continue to hold the two spots for playoff bids in the region. WTAMU and MSU tied on Sunday – the second time this season they’ve done so – to keep Truman (11-2-1 overall) from moving back into the top-two.

The Bulldog women will travel to both Washburn and Central Missouri this week, while the men host NAIA Columbia (Mo.) College for Senior Day on Saturday afternoon.
