Nov. 11, 2009 – The Truman Bulldogs will play their final exhibition game of the season as they travel to the University of Missouri-Kansas City on Saturday night. The game counts as the regular season opener for the Division I Kangaroos.
This will be the first regular season meeting between the two schools but the teams have played exhibition games in the past.
Truman lost their first exhibition game against the University of Missouri-Columbia last Friday night by a score of 96-33. Vesko Filchev led the team in scoring with eight points.
The Bulldogs took an early 2-0 lead on a Mark Misiewicz basket but the Tigers took a halftime lead of 50-25.
Truman struggled from the floor in the second half making just one of 17 field goal attempts in the period with that lone make coming just 2:35 left to play. The Tigers scored 36 of their 96 points off of Truman turnovers.
UMKC was picked to finish ninth in the Summit League and was 7-24 last season. In their exhibition opener against Bethel College, Jay Couisnard was one of three ‘Roos players in double-figures with 16 points in the 75-39 victory.
Spencer Johnson added a double-double with 14 point and 14 rebounds in a game-high 29 minutes of action.
