Jan. 8, 2010 – The Truman Swimming teams spilt on the first night of a two-day dual meet with Lewis University (Ill.) on Friday.  The women won 139.5-61.5 while the men lost a narrow 104.5-100.5 decision.  Both teams will be back in the pool at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.

 

The Bulldog men got a victory by Andrew McCall in the 50 free that matched his season-best time of 22.13.

 

Jerod Simek then led a trio to the wall in the 400 IM while Tony Hernadez led a pack of ‘Dogs to a sweep of the 100 Breast to give Truman the lead heading into the final event of the night.

 

In the 400 Free Relay, Lewis was able to hold of the group of Derek Burnett, Taylor Frymire, Nathan Harday and McCall to score 11 points and enough for the dual meet win.  The Flyers won 3:15.55 to 3:21.07.

 

The Bulldog women won seven individual events and both relays to pick up their victory over Lewis. 

 

Kate Aherne won the 400 IM and 100 Free while also swimming the second leg of the victorious 400 Free Relay squad.

 

Jessica Jenkot (50 Free) Kendra Brunkow (100 Free), Stacey Wymer (100 Back), Julia Jones (500 Free), and Emily Buss (100 Breast) picked up the other wins for the ‘Dogs.

 

Tanya Sylvester, Aherne, Jenkot and Carina Pautz won the 400 Free Relay while Wymer, Buss, Sylvester and Brunkow won the 400 Medley Relay.
