Jan. 9, 2010 – Both Bulldog swimming teams came out on top in the second dual in as many days against Lewis University (Ill.).  The women won 110-79 and the men took a 115-89 victory over the Flyers.

 

After being narrowly defeated the night before, the Bulldog men fought back to even their record less than 24 hours after facing the Flyers squad.

 

The Bulldogs got a big performance in the 200 Medley relay as the group of Matthew Fletcher, Tony Hernandez, Andrew McCall and Taylor Frymire won by four-tenths of a second to pick up a big 11 points.

 

McCall followed with a victory with a season-best time of 21.86 in the 50 Free while Fletcher led a pair of Bulldogs in a 1-2 finish in the 200 IM.

 

Frymire took the 100 Free race and Jerod Simek paced two other teammates to a 1-2-3 finish in the 200 Breast event.

 

The ‘Dogs then capped off the second day with a victory in the 200 Free relay.  McCall, Frymire, Nathan Hardy and Hernandez comprised the winning group in the race.

 

The women took seven individual event victories and the 200 Medley relay en route to their second straight victory over the Flyers.

 

Julia Jones won the 1000 Free followed by Tanya Sylvester’s first place finish in the 200 Free.

 

Kate Aherne continued her dominance in the pool with a win in the 50 Free and Taylor Birsa touched the wall first in the 200 IM.

 

Anna Grinter (200 Free), Jessica Jenkot (100 Free) and Stacey Wymer (200 Back) were the other individual winners for the Bulldogs.

 

The group of Wymer, Jenkot, Sylvester and Kendra Brunkow opened up the meet with a win in the 200 medley relay.

 

Truman will be back in action next weekend in Springfield, Mo. at Missouri State University.  Joining the Bulldogs and Bears in the pool with be Southern Illinois University.
