(SPRINGFIELD, Mo.) – The Truman swimming teams competed in a three-team meet at Division I-Missouri State University on Saturday, but both came back 0-2 as the squads fell short against MSU and Southern Illinois University in dual scoring. Junior Emily Buss logged the team’s single individual win on the day, taking the 200-yard breaststroke.
Buss finished in a time of 2:23.34 to edge SIU’s Kristin Geppert by four one-hundredths of a second. She had already recorded an A-cut time with the result at the University of Iowa Invitational on Nov. 20, 2009.
Julia Jones (1000 Free; 10:41.29), Kate Aherne (50 Free; 24.24) and Anna Grinter (200 Fly; 2:08.27) also recorded B-cut times in their events, though all had recorded at least a B-cut time earlier this season.
No men’s swimmer recorded a B-cut or better time on the day.
The women’s squad lost their in-meet duals, 89-22 to MSU and 59-52 to SIU, while the men dropped a 98-13 decision to SIU and a 102-9 final to MSU.
The squads will be back in action next weekend, traveling through Rolla, Mo., on Friday night for a men’s meet with Missouri S&T before both teams square off against Drury (Mo.) on Saturday afternoon in Springfield.
