(PELLA, Iowa) – Senior Loyde Braidlow lost in the championship match and went 4-1 on the day to lead the Truman wrestling team at the Central College Open on Saturday.
Braidlow won his first four matches of the day before finishing in a 3-3 tie in the championship match of the 285-pound weight class, but a tiebreaker gave the championship to Missouri Baptist’s Mike Wakim.
Two other wrestlers – Zach Hayes (197) and Alex Maus (141) – reached the semifinals of the wrestleback bracket, as Maus went 6-2 on the day and Hayes posted a 3-2 overall mark. Hayes defeated fellow Truman wrestler Max Muench in the 4th round of wrestleback, as three Bulldogs competed in the 197 class.
Truman will head to the Central Missouri duals next Sunday, held in Warrensburg, Mo.
