Feb. 4, 2010 – Junior guard Alex Henderson has been selected as a first team all-District selection for the ESPN the Magazine/College Sports Information Directors of America all-Academic team. Henderson is second on the team in scoring and is tops in assists this year.
Henderson (Willard, Mo./Willard) has had a breakout year for the Bulldogs as he is shooting 42% from three-point range and has already eclipsed his career point total from last year with 230 scored this season.
He has started all 21 games this season and has been the Bulldog leading scorer in six games. Henderson has been ranked in the MIAA in three-point field goal percentage (9th - .429), assists (9th – 3.9/g) and minutes played (2nd – 32.2/g).
Henderson will now move to the national Academic All-America ballot for further considerations. He was the only MIAA player selected to any all-District team.
Henderson is the first Truman Men’s Basketball player since Matt Beran in 2004 to earn first-team all-District accolades. Truman has had five Academic All-Americans with the last being Jason Reinberg in 2000. Reinberg was a three-time Academic All-American.
Truman State University is a member of the District 7 of the College Division of CoSIDA. The College division comprises all NCAA Division II, III, NAIA and Junior Colleges. There are eight districts within CoSIDA that are geographical based.
