Mar. 12, 2005 – The Truman men's swimming team finished in tenth place at the NCAA Division II championships in Orlando, Fla. on Saturday night.  The Bulldogs had 131 points and just missed ninth place Henderson State by two.  This the men's team highest finish since a ninth place showing in 2001-02.

Day Four Recap

Truman scored 28 points during the final day of the national championships in Orlando, Fla. 

The 400 free relay team of Tim Scheuber, Ryan Ferrell, Ashtyn Beek and Josh Otis took home all-American honors by finishing in seventh place with a time of 3:04.35 for 24 points.  That team finished right behind Henderson State (Ark.) in the relay by just over one second.

In the 200 backstroke, Robert Fletcher earned honorable mention all-America honors by placing 16th with a time of 1:53.19. 

Truman had five swimmers in the 100 free but could only manage three points.  Tim Scheuber was the only Bulldog to make the "B" finals and finished in 14th with a time of 46.50.  Three other Bulldogs, Beek, Otis and Nick Joslin,  missed the finals by under one second. 

Day Three Recap

Truman scored in two events on the third day of action.

Ten of the team's points came in 800 free relay. The squad of Josh Otis, Ashtyn Beek, Alex Totura and Ryan Ferrell finished in a school-record time of 6:51.87 and came in 12th place.

The other four points came in the 100 backstroke, where Robert Fletcher recorded a 13th-place finish. Fletcher broke the school record in prelims with a time of 50.98 and then swam a 51.20 in the finals.

Day Two Recap

Truman made the finals in both relays run on Thursday, moving the team up several spots in the standings.

The 200 free relay team finished third in the nation and broke the team’s third school record at the national meet. The squad, consisting of Nick Joslin, Ryan Ferrell, Ashtyn Beek and Tim Scheuber, swam the race in a time of 1:22.69.

The  400 medley relay team finished eighth in it event. That team was made up of Robert Fletcher, Josh Otis, Chris Brammer and Scheuber.

Truman’s other points in day two came from Otis who finished 11th in the 400 IM.

Day One Recap

Two Truman individuals and one relay team scored during the first day of action.

Josh Otis had the best finish, placing eighth in the 200 IM after setting a school record of 1:52.72 during the prelim round. Tim Scheuber scored in the 50 free, finishing 13th overall.

The 200 medley relay team came in 10th at the meet with a school record mark of 1:32.66. Members of that team are Robert Fletcher, Adam Pruess, Chris Brammer and Tim Scheuber.
