(KIRKSVILLE, Mo.) – Both Truman tennis teams fell at home to the University of Nebraska-Kearney in their spring dual debuts on Wednesday afternoon. The Bulldog men lost 6-1, while the women’s squad dropped a 5-2 decision to the visiting Lopers.
Kyle Schlotz picked up Truman’s (4-1) only win on the men’s side, capturing a 6-0, 4-6, 10-3 decision at No. 3 singles.
For the women (3-1), both Amy Ochs and Kelsey Kuykendall were victorious in their singles play, with Ochs coming from one-set down to win 3-6, 6-2, 7-5 at No. 2, while Kuykendall cruised to a 6-2, 6-0 decision at No. 4.
Both squads found themselves in a deep hole following doubles play, where UNK (men: 6-3; women: 4-5) jumped to 3-0 leads heading into singles action.
The Bulldog women will be back in action on Wednesday, March 24th at Lincoln (Mo.) University after matches in Hays, Kan., were cancelled this upcoming weekend. Both teams will return home for action on March 26-27, facing Rockhurst (Mo.) University on Friday before kicking off MIAA play on Saturday against Southwest Baptist (Mo.) University.
