Box Score

Oct. 1, 2005 – In last season’s battles with Southwest Baptist, only three goals were scored between the two women’s soccer programs as they fought each other for the MIAA conference title.  It took the Bulldogs just under 17 minutes of action to equal all of last year’s total en route to a 5-0 blanking of the Bearcats on Saturday afternoon.

The scoring was started when freshman Emily Newsham scored her third goal of the season off a pass by another newcomer in Brigitte Pohren at the eight minute mark.

Kim Wolff scored her first goal of the season six minutes later when she pounded home a rebound off a corner kick.  Rachel McCarville found the back of the net after a pass from Katie Buning to increase the Bulldog lead to three early on.

Two second half goals, one by Lauren Hawks and the other by Ashley Sternquist gave the Bulldogs their biggest offensive output of the season.

Lauren Davis and Emily Roark combined on the shutout, making only three saves all in the second half.

The win propels the Bulldogs to a first-place tie in the MIAA with Missouri Southern with a 3-0-2 mark.  It also marked the first time Truman has been over .500 this season with a 5-4-1 record.  Southwest Baptist falls to 1-6-1 overall and 1-4 in conference play.
