Mar. 28, 2006 – The Truman women’s tennis team picked up their first conference win of the season with a 9-0 defeat over Missouri Western on Tuesday afternoon in St. Joseph. The Bulldogs improved to 9-1 and 1-1 in the conference with the victory.
No. 1 doubles team of Jennifer Salmon and Whitney Hamilton defeated the Griffons top duo by an 8-4 score. The other two Truman doubles squads each came away with wins to give the team a 3-0 advantage heading into singles matches.
The Bulldogs took all six singles matches in straight sets. Whitney Hamilton needed a tie break in the first set, winning 7-6, then claming the match with a 6-1 score in the second. Jessie Krause did not allow a game in her match at No. 6 singles, winning 6-0, 6-0.
Truman will host a pair of MIAA matches this weekend. Southwest Baptist will be at the Truman Tennis Courts on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. and Missouri Southern will pay a visit on Sunday morning at 9:00 a.m.
