May 4, 2006 – The Truman women’s tennis team saw their season come to an end as they were defeated in the first round of the NCAA Division II National Tournament. The Bulldogs fell to top seed Northwest Missouri by a 5-0 score in a dual match played in
Northwest, the defending MIAA champions, swept through the doubles matches 3-0. The closest match was at No. 2 when Carolina Amaral and Emily Lindsay handed Truman’s freshman duo of Lindsy Blair and Courtney Walther an 8-6 defeat.
The Bearcats needed to win just two of the six singles matches to move on to the next round of the tournament on Friday. Northwest scored wins at No. 1 singles with Gena Lindsay defeating Jennifer Salmon by identical 6-1 set scores and at No. 4 where Lina Gomez defeated Whitney Hamilton 6-3, 7-5.
The Bulldogs ended their four year drought of postseason play with a 14-8 overall record in dual matches
