2007 - Byrd earned the Special teams scout award following the 2007 season...was a two-time scout team player of the week, following games against Missouri S&T and Fort Hays State...named the team’s community involver following Missouri Southern gameweek.

High School - Was a finalist for Defensive Player of the Year in the Houston area, sponsored by the local Touchdown Club … named 2007 Texas Class 5A first-team defense ... was a first team all-district pick and named defensive back of the year by the team … had 49 tackles, 39 solo and forced two fumbles … had a school record seven interceptions last season … helped lead his high school squad to the playoffs for the first time since 1995 … was also starting point guard on the basketball team.
