Megan Wargo joins the Truman volleyball squad for the fall of 2009 after spending the past four seasons as the assistant coach for both the women’s and men’s volleyball programs at Lees-McRae (N.C.) College.
Lees-McRae, a Div. II institution located in Banner Elk, N.C., reached the NCAA women’s tournament three times with Wargo serving as the program’s assistant and won three straight Conference Carolinas tournament championships. The Bobcat women’s program has compiled a 101-46 record during her four-year tenure at the program, while Wargo helped guide an upstart men’s program to a 13-4 record in 2006 and a 19-5 record in 2009.
Wargo also spent time on the sidelines as an assistant varsity coach at Susquehannock High School in Glen Rock, Pa. and as the head coach for the R&B Select Volleyball club. Her SHS squad advanced to the state championship game in 2004, while her R&B Select clubs picked up both a No. 1 regional ranking and a spot in the top-50 nationally under her guidance.
Wargo also has taken on a major role with Gold Medal Squared, a premier provider of volleyball camps and coaching clinics throughout the United States and Canada.
As a player, Wargo was an all-conference outside hitter for Gettysburg (Pa.) College and holds the second-place spot in both the school’s and conference’s dig records as well as the fifth-place rank in program kills. As a senior, she was named the conference’s Player of the Year after helping guide her team to three Centennial Conference titles and three NCAA Div. III national tournament appearances throughout her four-year career. A two-sport athlete, Wargo was also a first-team all-conference catcher for the GC softball team.
She graduated from Gettysburg College in 2002 with a degree in Management, with a minor in Political Science and an International Affairs concentration.
