Aug. 26, 2008 – The Truman Baseball team will sponsor a fall hitting league for area youngsters. The league will run on Sundays beginning October 19th. Deadline to sign up for the six-week league is October 13th.
Aug. 14, 2008 – The Truman Baseball and Softball squads will both host Alumni games on Saturday, September 13th at 10:00 a.m. All former Bulldog baseball and softball players are invited to participate.
June 4, 2008 – Bulldog baseball head coach Dan Davis has added nine additional student-athletes who will join the Truman program in 2009. The nine new signees plus Devon Myers, who signed in November of 2007, will make up the incoming class of Bulldog baseball.
May 12, 2008 – Freshman Luke Crader was selected honorable mention all-conference by the MIAA baseball coaches. Crader led the Bulldogs with a .352 batting average.
May 12, 2008 – Senior Larry Hall of the Truman Baseball team was selected to the second team ESPN the Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-District team.
May 3, 2008 – Senior Larry Hall made his final performance in a Bulldog uniform memorable by driving in five runs, but a hot-swinging Northwest Missouri squad outslugged the Bulldogs 15-10 in Saturday’s season-finale at the Truman Baseball Park. Truman ends the 2008 season with an 8-42 overall mark.
May 2, 2008 – Sophomore Keaton Jones had three hits at the top of the Bulldog lineup, but the purple and white stranded six base runners and had two others caught stealing as the Northwest Missouri Bearcats took a 2-0 decision Friday afternoon at the Truman Baseball Park.
May 1, 2008 – Two strong pitching performances guided the Bulldog baseball squad to a doubleheader split with conference-foe Northwest Missouri State on Thursday afternoon at the Truman Baseball Park. Freshman Matt Herrick threw his second complete game of the season in a 9-3 Truman game one win before fellow freshman Kyle Veazey took a hard-luck loss in a 3-0 extra-inning Northwest nightcap victory.
April 29, 2008 – The #23 Central Missouri Mules swept a Tuesday afternoon doubleheader in Kirksville, taking game one 9-6 before winning game two 10-5. Truman (7-39, 5-27 MIAA) will finish the regular season with a four-game set at home against Northwest Missouri starting Thursday afternoon.
April 27, 2008 – Truman baseball took one game in this weekend’s four-game set at Washburn University – winning Saturday’s first game 3-1, while falling 14-4 on Friday, 3-1 in Saturday’s game two, and 8-3 on Sunday. Larry Hall and Kenny Swanson had four hits each in the series. Truman will host Central Missouri in a doubleheader Tuesday afternoon.
April 23, 2008 – After dropping game one of Wednesday’s doubleheader 8-6 to Quincy (Ill.) University, the Bulldog baseball team salvaged a doubleheader split with a 6-4 game two win and picked up their sixth win of the season in the process. Senior Larry Hall combined for four hits in the two games, while freshman Kenny Swanson drove in four runs on the afternoon.
April 22, 2008 – A two-run homerun by Lincoln’s Drew Horrell in the top of the 12th inning spoiled a late Bulldog rally as the Blue Tigers held off a pesky Bulldog baseball squad 6-4 Tuesday afternoon at the Bulldog Baseball Park. Freshman Joshua Dilday had three hits and tallied all four Bulldog RBIs in the loss. Truman (5-33) will be back in action tomorrow afternoon in a doubleheader at Quincy (Ill.) University.
April 20, 2008 – In a wild day at the Truman Baseball Park, which saw a combined 40 runs, 51 hits, and 13 errors, it was Missouri Southern who ended up on the high side of both ends of a doubleheader, as the Lions took down the Bulldog baseball squad 14-9 and 11-6. Truman will play again Tuesday against Lincoln (Mo.) in a 2:00 pm first pitch.
April 19, 2008 – Truman baseball earned a doubleheader split by taking game one of Saturday’s doubleheader with Missouri Southern 9-1 before dropping game two, 9-3. Junior Neil Bleish went 5-for-7 on the afternoon, scoring four times while driving in three. The Bulldogs and Lions will go at it in another doubleheader tomorrow starting at noon.
April 15, 2008 – Two late scoring bursts by the Bulldog baseball team were not rewarded Tuesday afternoon, as Quincy (Ill.) University took both ends of an afternoon doubleheader, winning 5-2 and 3-2. Truman will be back in action this weekend with a four-game set scheduled against Missouri Southern.
April 13, 2008 - The Bulldog baseball team suffered a pair of close losses to wrap up a four-game weekend series in Hays, Kansas, as the host Fort Hays State Tigers took an 11-7 game one win before coming from behind to beat the Bulldogs 15-14 in game two on Sunday.
The Bulldogs will return home for a nonconference doubleheader on Tuesday against Quincy (Ill.) University.
April 12, 2008 - The Truman baseball squad dropped both games in Saturday's doubleheader at Fort Hays State - falling 32-5 in game one before losing the nightcap 16-5. Truman and Fort Hays State will play another doubleheader tomorrow, starting at noon.
April 5, 2008 – Neil Bleish and Brandon Pearl went back-to-back in the first inning of a Saturday afternoon doubleheader to propel the Bulldogs to a 6-3 game one win at Southwest Baptist, before SBU came out swinging in game two to gather a split with a 13-8 decision. Truman will hit the field again Tuesday with a home doubleheader against Central Missouri at 2:00 pm.
April 4, 2008 – The Truman baseball squad salvaged a split Friday in afternoon doubleheader at Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, Mo. After dropping game one 7-1, the Bulldogs rebounded to snag a 10-1 game two victory behind freshman Logan Frame’s seven innings of one-run pitching.
March 30, 2008 - Freshman Luke Crader recorded three hits, but back-to-back four-run innings by the Missouri Western Griffons put the Truman baseball squad in a deep hole Sunday afternoon, as MoWest took the final game of a four-game set 13-3 and stopped the Bulldogs from securing a split. The Bulldogs are back in action next weekend with a pair of doubleheaders at Southwest Baptist University.
