Tyler MadsenTyler Madsen took over as Truman's Athletics Media Relations Assistant in June 2008 after obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science from Truman. Madsen works specifically with the baseball, women's basketball, soccer (men's & women's), tennis (men's & women's) and volleyball programs at Truman, while also assuming various roles with each of Truman's other sports.
As a May 2008 graduate, Madsen specialized in Sport and Recreation Management and was a student worker for the Athletics Department throughout his undergraduate career. He served as the primary contact for volleyball, women's basketball and baseball as a senior and played a major role in the execution of the 2007 NCAA Volleyball South Central regional.
Madsen is currently a member of the MIAA's basketball tournament committee and has worked each of the past four years at the tournament in various roles.
As a student at Truman, Madsen served four years in the University's Department of Residence Life as both a student adviser and assistant hall director while also taking a two-year leadership role with Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He also spent two years as a sports reporter for The Index, the campus newspaper. In that role, Madsen covered the 2005 men's soccer team that advanced to the Div. II regional championship, the 2005-06 men's basketball team that reached the postseason, as well as the 2006 volleyball team that finished the season 36-2.
Madsen is a native of Decatur, Illinois, and a graduate of Decatur Christian High School.
